Small Change hope to net a big cash haul for Sidmouth Voluntary Services

A pair of saxophonists will be making sweet music in Sidmouth’s streets again this Easter to bring a boost to another local charity.
Jan McCann and Jackie Ensall (pictured fundraising at Christmas) will be out from Good Friday (March 25) and as much as the weather permits over April in aid of Sidmouth Voluntary Services, which is looking to refurbish its courtyard and garden room.
Playing together as Small Change, the pair netted £700 for the Sid Valley Food Bank before Christmas, playing songs to get shoppers in the festive mood.
The money they raised bought hampers and meat vouchers for the charity’s beneficiaries.
“We wanted to support another local charity,” said Jan. “That way, you see very clearly the results of what you do.
“You see that the work you do makes a difference.
“We’ve put a whole new set together – some jazz, some things people recognise and some they don’t.”
The pair have trialled some of the tunes in front of family and friends, but Jan said it is much more nerve-wracking in public.
See how they get on in the town centre.
