PUPILS from St Nicholas Junior School, Sidmouth, have been whipping up smoothie recipes in a bid to impress a local chef.
Phil Thorne, chef for Waitrose, showed children how to make healthy smoothies from fruit and vegetables, including butternut squash and broccoli, mango and passion fruit.
The children were then invited to come up with their own drink and design a packaging label.
The winning three will be mixed up by Phil and taken into school for a tasting session next month to choose the best one.
Margaret Edwards-Hughes, who deals with Waitrose's marketing and community matters, said the store was running the competition with the school's Year Six pupils.
