Youngsters in Newton Poppleford gave playtime some welly when they had a special visit from a social enterprise group.
The Carousel Project went to the preschool to help set their imaginations free through storytelling and participatory art.
The Exeter-based group brought popular Usborne books to life and the children made their own sound effects, such as the galloping of horses.
They then made hobby horses from wellington boots and re-enacted Black Beauty.
The pre-school is in its 25th year, and will be celebrating the anniversary in July.
It is also hosting an Easter egg hunt on March 30.
