A rambling jamboree returns to Sidmouth’s streets and coastal paths next month - with routes for all abilities.
The town’s second walking festival boasts two arboretum walks and shorter treks, in response to feedback from last year’s inaugural event.
All the walks are free, but should be booked at Sidmouth’s Tourist Information Centre.
Organiser Norma Self said the spaces are filling up fast.
“If people want to come along they need to get their boots polished and get booking,” said the keen rambler.
“It’s gone down well – we’re already planning the third one.”
The original event was touted as a showcase of the Sid Valley and has again benefited from £500 from the town council.
This year, organisers Norma Self and Ted Swan have been joined by Jennifer Dixon and William Davey.
There are three walks each day, ranging from 3.5 - 11 miles, all setting off from five starting points - Knowle in Sidmouth, Newton Poppleford’s recreation ground, The Donkey Sanctuary, Beer’s cliff-top car park and the Otterton Inn.
The only costs involved are parking – although the guides endeavour to find free places – and a cream tea on the final walk. The festival runs from September 13 - 17, preceded on September 12 with a chance to meet the guides at an information event.
Programmes are available from the information centre or at visitsidmouth.co.uk. Call 01395 516441 to book.
