Spirit of carnival at Newton Poppleford beats rain
Good crowd enjoy Newton Poppleford carnival despite downpour
DOWN came the rain on Saturday night, but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of those taking part and watching Newton Poppleford Carnival.
“Despite the rain we had a successful carnival,” said carnival chairman Jackie Barnard.
“We had a good crowd of people watching as the floats and walking entries, along with two troupes of majorettes, Karizma and Seaton, paraded through the village.
“As our queen, Grace Kubaczka, presented the cups to the winners of each class, everyone was still smiling. This is carnival spirit at its best.”
