A Christmas Day meal bringing isolated members of the community together in Sidmouth will be boosted by a festive fundraiser tomorrow (Saturday).
‘Stir-up Saturday’ will be held in All Saints Church Hall from noon to 3pm. Organiser Emma Donovan said: “Stir-up Sunday is a traditional celebration when the family gathers to ‘stir up’ the Christmas pudding – we can’t have the event on the Sunday so we’ve swapped to the Saturday instead!
“We will be gathering to stir a pudding, have some fun and raise some funds for our meal for those that might otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.”
Entry is £1 per adult and 50p per child. The event will include children’s entertainment, crafts, bric-a-brac, games and a raffle.
There will also be tickets on offer for the advent raffle, which will be drawn on Christmas Eve. Among the 24 prizes on offer are a dinner for two at the Victoria Hotel and a sweet selection from Daffy Down Dilly.
