Another 20 storage containers will be placed at Sidmouth’s Alexandria Industrial Estate if a planning application is approved.

Ford Property has submitted the plans in a bid to relocate existing businesses from a site that is being lost in Honiton, in order to safeguard four jobs. There are already around 100 storage containers at the site and the application says there would be a ‘negligible’ increase in traffic from the additional 20. It states: “The proposal is to relocate the existing businesses within 20 containers and to provide, within existing buildings at the Alexandria estate, the employment space for the four employees who require new accommodation.

“The containers will be located so as to minimise the visual impact and, in fact, due to the topography, will only be visible at an angle from the access road within the estate.”

East Devon District Council will decide the fate of the application.
