Valley of a million bulb project still blooming 10 years after Keith Owen’s death
The stunning sight of snowdrops in Margaret’s Meadow is a fitting tribute to Sidmouth’s benefactor - a decade after his death.
Keith Owen’s final wish to create a valley of one million bulbs was put into practice by the Sid Valley Association (SVA) and hundreds of volunteers, capturing imaginations around the world.
The wealthy banker and philanthropist bequeathed his £2.3million fortune to the town for use in community projects. The snowdrops by the river walk in Margaret’s Meadow are a symbol of his lasting legacy.
The SVA hopes the flowers, planted by volunteers, will bring joy to many who use the popular site. It has also revealed plans to mark the anniversary of Mr Owen’s death later this year.
