Budding book worms are being urged to take up this year’s summer holiday Reading Challenge organised by Sidmouth Library.

Children in the town have been invited to a special launch event tomorrow (Saturday), which will be held between 10am and 1pm.

Peak Hill Llamas will be bringing two of its herd on the day to greet youngsters outside the library as they sign up for the challenge.

Guests will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the llamas.

Carol Pentecost, library supervisor, said: “The aim of the challenge is to keep children coming to the library and reading through the summer holidays.”

Youngsters, mainly of primary school age, are encouraged to read six books. Those who complete the challenge will get an 80th anniversary Beano poster and stickers.

The readers who complete all six books will get a certificate, medal and entered into a draw.

Prizes include a trip to Wildwood Escot, Gliddons toy vouchers and books from Winstones and the friends of the library.
