Summer return for Ottery Karen Hall 10k Run

SCORES of fleet-footed fundraisers will descend upon Ottery later this month when a popular running challenge returns to the town.

After getting a rest last year, runners can once again don their trainers for the Karen Hall 10k Run on May 17.

The race, organised by Ottery estate agent Nick Hall in loving memory of his late

wife Karen, will help raise money for the town's Carnival Committee and Cricket Club.

A pending hip operation means Nick, 50, won't take part in this year's run- the first time he has missed it- but he is optimistic of a fun-packed day none the less as runners and spectators have been invited to a Cricket Club after-party.

Nick said: "There is a huge personal element for me and although I can't take part, my sons will be running for their mum.

"It's great to bring the race back as a thank-you for how fantastically Ottery has supported me so much. Karen and I started it (the Ottery 10k Run) together and she is always remembered.

"There are still plenty of spaces left and we hope that if people don't want to run they will come along and cheer them (the runners) through the square then join us at the Cricket Club afterwards, all are welcome."

The run, which is certified under UK athletics rules, will begin at 10.30am at The King's School and finishes at the Cricket Club where there will be a barbeque and bar.
