BEER’S Music 4 Life was a sunshine-blessed success. The 12-hour live music extravaganza at Beer Albion Football Club featured 15 bands, including the Blue Bishops, the Partly Animals and Dan Crisp. They all donated their services for free, in aid of Hospiscare and the Devon Air Ambulance.
It is hoped the charities will receive around �4,000 each, with money available for other local charities too. Dan Crisp gave �600 each to Music 4 Life and Cancer Research and the silent auction lot of a framed limited edition print by local artist Andrew Coates raised �160.
Streetheat Samba Band launched the event at Jubilee Gardens, then moved up to the football club.There were stalls, food, a bar, a magician, games including golf, a dog show and a bouncy castle. The magician was meant to be a static show, but happily wandered around entertaining the crowds.
Organiser Annie Boalch estimated there were up to 500 people on site at any one time. “There was a nice flow of people, from families in the afternoon to couples and groups of friends in the evening,” she said. “The atmosphere in the afternoon, with the little ones dancing around and people enjoying the activities was wonderful.”
She thanked everyone who had helped, including Steve and Mandy; Gill and Jim; Garth and Angie; Liz and Kevin; Lynne and her husband David.
