SIDMOUTH accommodation providers reported the best day of the year on Sunday, when visitors flocked to enjoy its sunny beaches.

Mark Seward, president of Sidmouth and District Hospitality Association, said: "Sunday was extremely busy, both for day visitors and chance visitors looking to stay.
"It is encouraging after a fairly miserable day on Saturday."
He said members had expressed their delight at the numbers staying.

With concerns over the uncertainty of flights this summer, and the continuing strength of the Euro, he added: "We could see a strong demand for hotel rooms, guest houses and accommodation this summer.
