SAINSBURY’S is planning further meetings with residents in Ottery St Mary to discuss the plans for the construction of its new superstore.
The Sidmouth Herald understands the meetings with the Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce will take place in early February, and will also allow the public to ask about the building work, which is due to begin in earnest in early March.
A spokesman for the company said: “We want to talk to the Council and the Chamber and interested people, and provide them with as much information as possible.”
Some preliminary work such as digging site holes, some archaeological work and shrub clearance is already underway, and the spokesman said they were keen to get constructing the store as soon as possible.
He added: “If we could get the real building work started earlier than planned that would be brilliant, but there are so many variables it’s hard to say if it will or not.”
