WIND TURBINE: Ottery Town council agreed to support the erecting of a wind turbine at a farm in East Hill. John Coles, a fifth generation farmer and abattoir owner, said his main expenditure was now on electricity, and wanted to build the turbine to offset the cost of power for Higher Rill Farm. At the planning meeting councillors agreed to support Mr Coles’ application the 20 metre turbine would not be in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

PUBLIC INQUIRY: The results of the public inquiry into the rejected 50 home plan near Eastfield in West Hill could take up to seven weeks to be revealed. The three-day inquiry into the plan by Blue Cedar Homes was completed last week, which is now being seen as a landmark case for proposed developments outside village boundaries with new government planning legislation on its way.
