Britain’s oldest civic society has won the support of the town council to make internal alterations to part of the former Trumps building.

The Sid Vale Association wants to create an HQ with storage and office space to help alleviate pressure on Sidmouth Museum.

Sidmouth Town Council’s planning committee met last Wednesday to discuss an application to change the use of the upper floors to office and storage space. Plans also seek permission to make internal alternations to both floors to create offices and a new entrance and stairwell on the ground floor. East Devon District Council will decide the fate of the application.
