TOWN planners have backed plans by their town clerk's son to build a two-storey extension at Ridgeway Mead, Sidmouth.
Andrew Jarrett wants to demolish an existing garage and build a garage/garden store with accommodation over, to join the existing property, which stands in a larger plot, after the purchase of a railway embankment and railway line.
Sidmouth Town Council planning chairman, Councillor Ian McKenzie-Edwards, said: "This is quite substantial but stands in a large piece of ground and there haven't been any objections."
Councillor Simon Pollentine added: "It would seem to be very sensible to extend this building. They have kept the original feel of the property and this seems to be sympathetic.
