SUSTAINABLE Ottery's food group raised around £160 when it hosted a "Ready, Steady, Eat!" event last month (September 26).
The evening of idea-sharing, eating, drinking and dancing in The Institute was organised by the Local Ottery Area Food (LOAF) Network and funds raised will be shared between the group and the town's proposed skate park. .
Local chef Tony Rhodes kicked off festivities with a cookery demonstration using local produce donated by Sustainable Ottery members.
Apple juice was made on site using a homemade press by Jon Knox and Susan Hunter and proved a big hit.
Organiser Nicki Knox, of Mill Street, said: "The juice was so delicious that we struggled to keep up with demand and at one point we had to go and collect more apples."
"This was followed by a buffet, which everybody had contributed a dish to. These ranged from Quiches, to courgette curry, to pasta salads and some homemade apple pies for dessert."
Local band Good Question rounded off the evening with a variety of cover versions.
Mrs Knox added: "They got everyone up on the dance floor to burn off the wonderful dinner.
