MEMBERS of The Royal British Legion Sidbury and Sidford Branch enjoyed a social outing along the Jurassic Heritage Coast Route to Abbotsbury.

“We visited the swannery with around 600 mute swans,” said honorary branch secretary Valerie Hull.

“We observed swans incubating their eggs, fluffy cygnets from six days old in rearing pens and the grain feeding of the swans with interesting commentary.”

Group members then went on to savour the 20 acre formal and informal Subtropical Abbotsbury Gardens, with stunning high level views of Dorset’s World Heritage Coastline.

“It was one of the finest gardens I have seen,” added Valerie.
