FUNDRAISING staff at a Sidmouth business hope to boost the town’s lifeboat service by giving a sweet treat a savoury twist.
Roly’s Fudge Pantry will sell a sea-salt favour of the snack to raise enough cash to kit out a crew member of the valued independent charity.
Store manager Helle Poulson said the initiative proved a smash-hit with customers last year – raising £1,200 – and she is hoping to do even better this time round.
Helle hopes the Fore Street shop will sport a visual display of a crew member - that can have garments added as progress is made.
She described the lifeboat cause as ‘the heart of Sidmouth’, adding: “It’s our local charity and we’re really passionate about it.”
