Crowds cheered, ducked and dived as the traditional Tar Barrels night went ahead in good spirits, despite a difficult week.
A freak storm followed by a media frenzy has seen Ottery and its biggest week of the year as the centre of attention in the region all week.
Crowds may have swollen as a result, but the world-famous event also acted as a welcome night of fun for hard-hit residents.
