Four talented young musicians from Devon took part in a special masterclass with an internationally renowned pianist in Sidmouth Parish Church last Friday.
Andreas Boyde spent more than fours with Ottery St Mary residents Guy, 15, and 17-year-old Greg Susevee, Tom Mahoney, a 14-year-old from Crediton and Taunton resident Ben Shattock, 13.
They performed works by Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn, and in so doing strived to perfect their technique with the sympathetic and expert encouragement of their mentor.
Event co-ordinator Roger Hendy said: “The event was extremely well attended throughout the whole afternoon by members of the public and young people, and with the use of a radio microphone, Andreas’s constructive comments on interpretation and technique to all the players were clearly relayed to the very attentive audience.”
He thanked the Sid Vale Association’s Keith Owen Fund for its grant and Sidmouth Concert Society for lending the Bösendorfer Grand Piano.
