A Sidmouth Theatre was lit up in purple as part of a move to support International Women’s Day.
Supporters from across the area, coming from as far a field as Barnstaple, met outside the Manor Pavilion Theatre, on Manor Road, on Thursday evening.
East Devon District Council agreed to light the building up in purple in a ceremony to show their support of the day and WASPI - Women Against State Pension Inequality.
The council’s chairman, Councillor Andrew Moulding gave a short speech at the event before he had the honour of turning the lights on.
Sandra Broadbent, from the Devon WASPI Supporters Group, said: “It demonstrated the support the council has for the campaign and that it recognises the difficulties faced by women born in the 1950s, because of the changes to the state pension and the lack of notice.”
