Thieves steal church floodlights, worth £300, in Tipton St John

Thieves have stolen floodlights, worth £300, from a Tipton St John church.

Church warden Keith Poultney noticed two of the lights from the grounds of the parish church were missing around January 24.

He said thieves would have taken the items when they were turned off, sometime between 11pm and 4pm, at some point in January.

He added he did not believe it was a planned crime as the wires looked as if they had been ripped and not cut by something like wire cutters.

Keith said: “I was at the church and realised one side was dark - I went over to check the bulb and realised the whole fitting was gone.

“Nothing like this has happened before. I can’t see who would want to take them.

“Paying for the replacement lights will just stop something else from being done.”
