Sidmouth crews attended a fire in the open and two other callouts over the weekend.

On Saturday (April 29), one pump was mobilised to stand by in Colyton and was soon dispatched to assist small fire in an area of woodland at Shute. The second Sidmouth pump was sent to Colyton on stand by and both pumps returned at around 9.30pm.

At 7.35am on Sunday (April 30), crews were called to a home in Sidmouth’s Cliff Road after reports of a burning smell and the discolouration of a ceiling. After a search of the loft space a burst pipe was found and water was running into an electrical box. The water was shut off and duty of care left with the property owner.

Both pumps were then called to Temple Gardens at 7.15pm on Monday (May 1) after reports of a fire in a flat. On arrival, they found there had been a small fire in a bin and used positive pressure ventilation to clear the property of smoke. The cause was accidental.
