TOP OF THE CLASS: Parents of pupils at Beer Primary School can track their progress online.

The school is introducing or re-introducing mums and dads to the Pupil Tracker programme from 9am today (Friday).

The software gives access to children’s termly attainment, academic progress, attendance and behaviour.

ON PARADE: The Seaton Majorettes are recruiting eight girls aged between seven and 17 for the new season.

Any interested youngsters can go to the Seaton Methodist church hall on any Tuesday, from 4pm until 5.30pm.

COLLISION CLOSURE: Two cars and a bus were involved in a collision on the A3052 at rush hour last Friday morning.

The bus driver and a student suffered minor injuries and the road was closed between Branscombe Cross and the B3174 Hollyhead Road junction from 8.45am until 11.40am.

BRANCH OUT: The National Trust is helping shape Branscombe walkers’ knowledge of trees with an identification learning event.

It will begin with an undercover talk in the rangers’ office near the forge then, weather-permitting, a walk around the village will put the lesson into practice.

It is suitable for anyone over 12, and no previous knowledge is necessary, but booking is essential, as is suitable outdoor footwear and clothing.

RATING RESPONSE: Beer Primary School wants more feedback from parents on how well it is doing.

Ofsted, the Government schools inspector runs Parent View, which asks for opinions about schools, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour.

The body then uses the information when deciding which schools to inspect.

Views can be submitted to www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk, where parents can also see what others have said about Beer Primary School and any other in the country.

The school was last inspected in 2008, when it was rated as Outstanding.

PIGGY PANTO: Tickets are now on sale for this year’s pantomime in Beer.

Performances are on February 22 (Friday) and 23 (Saturday) at 7.30pm, with a matinee on the Sunday at 2.30pm.

Tickets (£5 for adults and £2.50 for children) are available from the newsagents and the off license.

BUBBLING ALONG: Branscombe Vale Brewery has a new website the owners hope will spread the word about their beers.

A spokesman said: “We’ve been here 20 years and we’re only just dragging ourselves into the 21st century.”

He said it was too early to tell what the new initiative would bring.

BIRDS AND BEES: Beer Arts Groups and Beer Village Heritage had their first joint venture with an enlightening evening with insights into the birds and the bees last Friday.

Solicitor-turned-birdspotter Dr Humphrey Sitters joined beekeeper John Hewson and Rowland Molony to deliver insightful facts from the natural world.

The groups hope to join forces again.
