Time for a #2minutebeachclean in Sidmouth

Just 120 seconds is all it takes to help get Sidmouth seafront spick and span if everyone pitches in.
It is now the site of a ‘#2minutebeachclean’ board, rubbish grabbers and old shopping bags – all the kit needed to remove litter and ensure it remains a beautiful outdoor space.
The sign is managed by Guy Russell and placed next to his Jurassic Paddle Sports business at the western end of the town’s main beach.
Campaign founder Martin Dorey said: “We are thrilled to be able to place a #2minutebeachclean board at Sidmouth.
“We know they help to reduce litter and can also act as a reminder to beach visitors that it is a special place and needs to be cared for, just like any other outdoor space.
“We sincerely hope that Sidmouth residents and visitors will embrace the project and that we’ll see a few posts on Instagram or Twitter of our family of barefoot warriors taking time out to help keep our planet beautiful.”
A spokesman for Shore Projects, which sponsored the board, added: “We’re incredibly happy to have helped in a small way to ensure that Sidmouth’s beautiful beach remains exactly that.”
Guy, who is also senior coxswain of Sidmouth Lifeboat, will look after the board over the summer and think about where it can be placed in the winter.
He said: “It’s a cause I support wholeheartedly. There are bins on the Esplanade but if there is a bin on the beach, people will use it. You’ve got to make it as easy as possible for people.
“It almost makes picking up litter fun – hopefully this will encourage everyone to keep the beach clean.”
The campaign encourages volunteers to pick up litter and share photos of their good work on Twitter and Instagram with the 2minutebeachclean hashtag.
There is another board along the coast in Branscombe.
