A DEVELOPER has re-ignited its bid to build up to 56 new homes in Tipton St John.

Devonshire Homes will stage a public exhibition in the village tomorrow Wednesday (June 2) and will showcase its latest proposals schemes for land south of Otter Close.

The firm hopes to hand a planning application to East Devon District Council (EDDC) by September.

Numerous schemes will be on show on Wednesday with different options featuring a minimum of 39 dwellings to a maximum of 56.

The event will signal the return of an affordable and open market homes bid for the piece of land after more than a year and a half.

Nearly 100 Tipton residents turned out to see Devonshire Homes' proposals at a similar event in December 2008.

The firm claims to have progressed proposals in the intervening months. Bosses have also promised to reveal plans to deal with site drainage and access. Residents will be given the opportunity to discuss and comment on the proposals.

"This event will provide the local community with the opportunity to view our latest proposals in slightly more detail," said Steve Russell, Devonshire Homes' land and planning director.

"Several options will be displayed, and we will ask residents what elements they like from each one. The final scheme we submit to (planning authority) East Devon District Council will hopefully reflect much of what we hear."

He added: "As a company, Devonshire Homes is committed to public consultation and we have held events such as these for a number of years. We do it to ensure that our developments reflect, where possible, the views of local people."

Devonshire Homes has promised to analyse feedback before handing a planning application to East Devon District Council by September.

It is hoped that an application will be lodged with the council by September at the latest.

The exhibition will be held on Wednesday, June 2, at Tipton's Community Hall on Wednesday from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
