HAYMAN'S butchers has added a clutch of prizes to its impressive list of awards at the National Supreme Product championships in Birmingham.

HAYMAN'S butchers has added a clutch of prizes to its impressive list of awards at the National Supreme Product championships in Birmingham.Hayman's, in Church Street, won six gold, eight silver and four bronze awards at the Foodex Meatex show, organised by the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders earlier this month.Its products won six gold, eight silver and four bronze awards. Gold went to its beef and chilli sausage, beef chilli burger, pork and garlic burger, minty lamb pie, Devon pasty and beef and ale and mustard pie.Stewart Hayman said: "These awards are important to us as they give us an independent assessment of the quality of our products. "Nowadays, you have to be innovative in this business and we are constantly striving to come up with new ideas for our customers. It is all worthwhile when a product you have developed comes away with a gold award."Two of his butchers, his nephew Shane Churchill and Nick Rush from his Woolbrook shop, made sausages and burgers, while Vera Ware made the pies."I am really pleased," said Mr Hayman. "You never know what to expect, it is how the judge perceives your product."Butchers from Colyton and Honiton also won awards at the show.
