BANNING dogs from Manstone Recreation Ground was among the items discussed this week by Sidmouth Town AFC and the town council. Committee members met with the council, which is the trustee of the ground, on Monday to discuss a range of issues outlined by Geoffrey West, secretary of the club. It was agreed that a 'Dog on Leads' order be implemented throughout the whole year and, subject to planning permission, the enclosure of dead land behind the club house to be used as storage. It was also decided that the club gates be locked in order to prevent members of the public parking in the car park, and for access only to be available during training and matches. The council approved installation of five metre high safety fencing behind the ground near Lidl. It was also noted that the club was applying for retrospective planning permission for the extension to the new club house.
