TRAVEL vaccinations at Sidmouth’s health centre will be restricted in the face of NHS cutbacks.

TRAVEL vaccinations at Sidmouth’s health centre will be restricted in the face of NHS cutbacks.

The Sid Valley Practice will no longer provide a comprehensive service from May 1 in a bid to “optimize resources.”

Office manager Karen Colson emphasised vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, hepatitis A and typhoid will still be available on the NHS.

However, residents will have to travel further afield for other inoculations or antimalarials.

“If you are travelling you need to find out what vaccinations and protection you require,” said Mrs Colson.

“For complex travel requiring vaccines that are not available on the NHS, specialist clinics are available.”

She added travel information is available from various sources including at www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk.

Specialist travel clinics can be found in Exeter and Axminster.
