A popular 10-kilometre run through Ottery St Mary made a successful return after a three-year break - with hundreds of fleet-footed fundraisers taking part in aid of a cancer charity.
The Ottery 10k, originally the Karen Hall 10k Run, returned on Sunday, May 17, and saw 233 runners take to the town’s streets to collect for both the Force Cancer Charity and the upcoming Ottery Carnival.
The total money raised is estimated at £1,500, which will be split evenly between the two groups.
“I had a lot of positive feedback from the participants,” said Roger Saunders, who co-ordinated the event along with Honiton Running Club and the Ottery Carnival Committee.
The race started and finished at Ottery Cricket Club, with the course weaving through the streets of the town.
James Denne, who led the field from the start, finished first in a spectacular 32 minutes and 26 seconds - a personal best for that distance.
Kevin Squibb, of Tiverton Harriers, was only two minutes behind and finished a close second.
The race was part of InStep Devon, a running network for various races in East and Mid Devon.
