DEVON Air Ambulance Trust have joined the latest micro-blogging trend and joined Twitter.

Heléna Holt, the charity's chief executive said: "Twitter is a great facility because we can promote the most up to date information available.

"For example, this could be details of what the helicopter has been up to, or a forthcoming fundraising event.

"Anyone wishing to follow us can find us under the name of DevonAirAmb."

She added "We also have a Facebook group Devon Air Ambulance, which has over 850 members.

"These social networking and internet tools have become an essential part of our awareness and fundraising strategy.

"Not only do they give us the tools to speak to a large number of people at the same time, but it doesn't cost us a penny as they are internet based.

"Another added bonus is that they enable us to reach right into the heart of the community and to the fantastic people supporting the charity and raising the essential funds needed to keep Devon's two air ambulances flying."

The charity is asking anyone who has Twitter or Facebook to follow or join and pledge their support.
