The Sid Valley Food Bank will bring a smile to its clients’ faces with the delivery of Christmas hampers next week.
Manager Lois Swarbrick said she ‘can’t believe’ how generous the community had been with donations of gifts and cash totalling hundreds of pounds.
If anyone is still eager to boost the appeal, boys’ gifts, tins of sweets, savoury treats, Christmas cakes and puddings will all be appreciated before the Monday (December 18) deadline.
Lois said: “I can’t believe how generous everyone has been donating items to our Christmas hamper appeal.
“We have several crates of gifts all wrapped and ready to go and a wardrobe full of edible goodies.”
Last week saw anonymous gifts of £5 and £25, and more cash from Easterbrook Eaton and the Radway Cinema, while St John’s School delivered a car full of goodies and Waitrose provided toilet rolls.
The food bank has donation points at churches around the town, as well as at Waitrose, Co-op, Tesco, Spar and NatWest bank.
