Traditionally, they are regarded as the true harbingers of spring, yet this year they are beginning to bloom early.
Unseasonably warm weather across the UK has seen Sidmouth’s famous daffodils start to come to life already.
Forecasters reported one of the mildest Decembers in more than 50 years.
The flowers, more usually associated with Easter than Christmas and the new year, are being seen around the country.
