Three of Sidmouth’s unsung heroes have been honoured for dedicating a combined 34 years to delivering books to housebound residents.
This week, library long service medals were awarded to Maria who received her five-year medal, although she has actually done nine years so next year should receive another medal, Ann who was given her 10-year service medal and Charlotte who was awarded the 15-year medal for their work with the Royal Voluntary Service’s Home Delivery Service.
Library supervisor Carol Pentecost said: “This great service is being delivered to our housebound customers, enabling them to keep reading and listening to their books. We’re very grateful to all our volunteers who give their time and it’s fantastic to recognise them in this way.”
If you know someone who is housebound, at home or in a care home, who might be interested in the service email sidmouth.library@librariesunlimited.org.uk or call 01395 512192.
