The organiser of Sidmouth’s independent Christmas Shopping Challenge was ‘greatly saddened’ to find that a banner advertising it had twice been vandalised.
Claire Jenkins secured permission to erect the sign on the A3052 by The Donkey Sanctuary and it went up on Sunday.
On Monday, she saw it on the floor and assumed strong winds had blown it off - but later learned it had been vandalised. It was repaired at around noon, but on her drive home at 4.30pm she saw it had been ‘attacked’ again.
“Words fail me,” said Claire. The challenge runs until Christmas Eve and rewards people for using Sidmouth’s independent shops.
