Help us rather than use your energy to destroy planters says Sidmouth in Bloom president

VANDALS have smashed a £300 planter outside Sidmouth Parish Church.

Not for the first time have the planters been a target.

A few years ago one was targeted, the day after Britain in Bloom judges admired the two stone planters at the main entrance to the church.

This week Joy Seward, president of Sidmouth in Bloom, the group that funds and maintains the seven planters in the church grounds, expressed her anger at the latest episode.

She said: “I am extremely upset. If these youngsters have got so much energy, then why don’t they use it in a positive way and help us rather than damage things?

“This wanton destruction is so upsetting.”

Joy said originally four planters had been bought for £300 each to compliment the age of the church.

The two at the side of the church had just been planted. When one was smashed the plants were tossed aside.

“We can’t afford to buy another new planter to replace it, they were really special,” Joy added.
