An expert on seaside piers – who also happens to be the brother of the late comedian Victoria Wood – will be giving an illustrated talk in Sidmouth next week.
Author, actor and lecturer Chris Foote Wood has visited every seaside pier in the UK at least twice, and some many more times.
He has written two books on the subject, including Walking Over the Waves - Quintessential British Seaside Piers, which lists all 56 of those that remain.
Chris said audiences invariably also ask about his famous sister, who died in April at the age of 62, and he has penned a tell-all biography of her life.
Victoria Wood Comedy Genius - Her Life and Work is published on November 25, but he will have advance copies available for sale at the Manor Pavilion, as well as his books on piers.
The lecture for the Sidmouth Decorative and Fine Arts Society is open to all and starts at 7.30pm on Wednesday (November 16).
Admission is free but tickets should be obtained from the theatre.
