Archant

Break-ins are a perennial problem in rural car parks so the Herald teamed up with Sidmouth police to show just how quickly thieves can strike.

In this reconstruction video, the perpetrator spots a handbag on the back seat, smashes the window and makes off with it - all in less than seven seconds.

Police advice is to lock your vehicle at all times, close your windows and doors, and remove all valuables from your vehicle.
