More than 100 people braved the rain to attend a barbecue in Sidbury that raised £1,500 for two worthy causes.
Organisers Monique and Stewart Pike, who hosted the event at Synderborough Farm, thanked everyone involved and said the weather would not put them off repeating it.
The couple praised musical entertainers Ollie Harris and Clara Bond and the volunteers who ran the bar and the raffle to create a great village atmosphere.
Proceeds will be shared between Force Cancer Charity and a project to refurbish the inside of the west tower at St Giles’ Church, which has become very run-down.
Monique said: “We were amazed by the generosity of people who sent donations in support of the event, if they could not make it – or didn’t fancy braving the weather!
“The weather certainly would not put us off repeating the event another year.”
