Well recognized for his characterful clothing and straightforward no nonsense approach to life, Surrey born Marc Kilsbie and his wife Julie sold their house in Ottery Saint Mary to form Flo and Us opening their doors for trade in December 2007.

Having a fondness for the area, Marc moved to Ottery some twenty five years ago and considers himself to be a local as he has become immersed in the way of life enjoyed by all those who arrive in Sidmouth from out of town.

Prior to the formation of Flo and US he was employed as a works manager with Ottery firm Luxtons.

However, once the desire to run your own business is instilled in you, the creative spark cannot be quelled and along with his wife Julie their passion became their business which is so often the case as ideas flow from the initial creativity.

There are few people who will commit themselves to selling their home to form a business such has been the dedication the couple have for their range of unique products.

Naturally there have been some tough times which they have both fought their way through. During the last lockdown the Fore Street store has had a refresh, making it more appealing and inviting both inside and out.

Keeping things in the family the couples nineteen-year-old daughter Amber has been assisting in the development of a new range of clothing.

Whilst studying at Winchester University she uses most of her spare time building the social media presence for the business on several platforms.

'Maintaining his creative spirit he also manufacturers handmade soap and skin care products including aftershave balms in a wide range of highly desirable scents, I am resisting the use of the word 'flavour' here as having used them myself they are certainly very appealing and are more than comparable to anything else on the market.

Keen to increase their stock range the couple are soon to be stocking a range of locally made arts and crafts items in the hope that they will flow through nicely.
