Generous shoppers have helped to raise £325 to help with the upkeep of Sid Valley Memory Café.

The money was generated through Waitrose’s community matters scheme, which splits £1,000 between three good causes, according to the number of counters they receive.

The charity holds weekly sessions as well as befriending activities and advice for people living with dementia and their carers.

Duncan Watt, chair of the memory café, said: “The sum represents an extremely useful amount toward the costs of running the Café. The green counters also show that people in the area value the work, and that is very much appreciated and provides a good morale boost for all involved.

“We know the need is growing. Quite simply, we are seeing more people and carers coming to have a much needed break at the café, exchange experiences and have a point of contact for additional help.”
