AN ENERGETIC event for all of the family will be held at East Hill in March.
Organised by Devon Orienteering Club, the walkabout will take place on Sunday, March 8 at East Hill and Core Copse near Ottery St Mary from 10am until 12.30pm.
Liz Bramley, organiser, said: "Orienteering is a wonderful way of enjoying our woods and open spaces. Each competitor has a map of the area with a course printed on it and they have to find certain points or controls on the route. Electronic punching gives instant timing at the end of the course and results are usually published on the club website by the end of the day. It is excellent training for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme." The cost is 1 for juniors and 5 for adults plus 1 to hire a dibber for the electronic punching. There will be someone available at the event to give instructions and general guidance. For more information contact the organiser, Liz Bramley on (01395) 577707 or at lizbramley@btinternet.com or visit www.devonorienteering.co.uk.
