OVER a hundred ex-Naval comrades and members of the Sidmouth Branch of the British Legion took part in a Church Parade on Sunday afternoon last. It was an inspiring sight to see so many ex-Service men, wearing medals, and joining heartily in the Service. Sunday being the King's birthday the Service appropriately began with the National Anthem, followed by prayers, hymns, lesson and sermon.
THE annual Circuit Rally of Methodists was held at the Sidmouth Methodist Church on Thursday, and much interest and enthusiasm was manifest therein. Special music was well rendered by the Choir. After the Quarterly Meeting a sermon was preached by the Rev A E Cosson, Chairman of the Exeter District. This was followed by a tea served in the Schoolroom to a large company by the ladies of the congregation.

FOUR Sidmouth organisations are to benefit from the Sidmouth Carnival, 1959. That was the decision reached by the Carnival Committee in their meeting last week. They are the Sidmouth Hot Cross Bun Fund, the Sidmouth Old Age Pensioners, the Sid Vale Moral Welfare Association, and the organisation set up to obtain a Sidmouth Guide Dog for the Blind.
SIDFORD Choir had two special singing days last week. On Friday they entertained a W.I. Choir from Horndean in Hampshire, to whom they were indebted for the loan of expensive music for the Vaughn Williams festival last year in Exeter. The Horndean Ladies faced ten hours travelling to spend a day in Sidmouth, which happened to be new ground for all of them.

SIDMOUTHIAN Bill Turner is the new chairman of Sidmouth Town Council. He was officially installed on Friday evening last week at the annual meeting of the council. Mr Turner, known to his contemporaries as "Mossy," was born in Sidmouth but left the town in 1941 after being drafted on an essential works order.
AN unusual idea has been put forward at Sidbury where 8,500 needs to be raised to repair the organ in the parish church. The scheme is to adopt an organ pipe - there are 12,000 and it is suggested that adoption could commemorate a family occasion. For instance a tiny pipe could be adopted for a new baby, or a deep sounding bass pipe for grandfather.
