WARNINGS have gone out to Sidmouth shoppers and retailers this week to keep a wary eye open for forged £20 Scottish notes.

A note was discovered to be a forgery after it was accepted in good faith by one shopkeeper.

PC Amanda Drake, of Sidmouth police, said: "There was a spree of forgeries in Axminster, but this is the first one in Sidmouth for a while.

"We would warn people to be aware they are around.
