AN Alfington resident is warning people to watch out for scam phone calls about the health of their computer.
Ann Miller received a call at about 2pm, on Thursday, December 2, from a woman who told her there was a problem with her computer. She knew full well that there wasn’t and told the caller this. That was the end of the conversation.
When Ann’s husband Anthony checked the number that had called, it was 11 0s.
“I was immediately suspicious, which is why I checked the number, and that just confirmed it,” he said. “You don’t get calls saying your computer’s not working.”
Anthony received a similar call himself a couple of months ago. “It’s a scam and, if you stay on the line long enough, they ask for you details,” he said. “People need to be aware of it.”
