Four hundred homes in Sidford could be without water and traffic has been disrupted after a main pipe burst and flooded the A3052 from Trow Hill to Sidford this morning (Monday).
Dirty water and debris littered the highway and threatened to submerge the Blue Ball Inn.
The surge was strongest at 10am and is now being tackled by the authority responsible, South West Water.
They hope to restore the water supply by the end of the day but warned that nearby homes may experience low water pressure for a short time.
