Weather does not dull Beer pupils spirits as they head out into nature

The weather could not deter Beer Primary School pupils from getting outdoors as part of environment week.
The children have been hard at work learning about nature before a group braved the snow to take part in the Junior Grizzly last weekend.
Despite the unsettled weather, the children’s spirits were not dampened as they went outdoors for a series of activities.
Reception and Key Stage One pupils were joined by East Devon Forest Schools to toast marshmallows, build dens, create a mud kitchen and other bush craft activities.
The school thanked parent volunteers and local businesses for donating an array, seeds plants and equipment.
Following a successful week of learning, 30 youngsters and adults from the school completed the fun run and Junior Grizzly on Seaton seafront, in the cold wintry conditions.
The youngsters are now preparing for the school’s annual Beer Blazer in May and hope to raise thousands of pounds to improve facilities.
Last year’s race raised more than £3000 for the school with nearly 350 entrants and hope to increase those figures for 2018 to put towards converting a storage room into an intervention space and extending the decking area for outdoor learning.
Parent and race director James Green said: “We know many were disappointed the weather stopped the full Grizzly going ahead and the ability to run ‘The Stairway to Heaven’.
“We are encouraging those runners to come back to Beer in May and enjoy the challenging course of the Beer Blazer in some warmer conditions.”
The Beer Blazer will start at 10.30am on Sunday, May 20 and has three levels of ability.
The 10k and 5k multi terrain is open to those aged 12 years and above and a one mile course for runners aged 11 years and younger.
The courses are mainly over private land covering fields, tracks, challenging pebble beach, undercliffs, ‘The Stairway to Heaven’, cliff tops and open common with breath-taking views of the Jurassic Coast.
