A choir which has performed across the world took to the stage in Sidbury for a very special concert last weekend.

Audiences packed out St Giles’ Church and enjoyed a unique opportunity, listening to the thrilling sound of Welsh choral singing from The Brynoch Male Voice Choir.

The group, which formed in 1982 and comes from near Neath in South Wales, has played at St David’s Hall, Cardiff and the Royal Albert Hall in London. The choir has also travelled to Germany, Holland, Spain and Canada and have sung with the Band of the Royal Marines as well as twice winning the first prize at the prestigious Lampeter Eisteddfod. Last Friday, (July 8), under the baton of their musical director Sandra Knight, the group was joined by an outstanding soprano - Claire Allen Powell, giving a moving and spirited performance which was given a great reception.

The show helped to raise around £750 which will be used to help with the upkeep of the buildings of St Giles’ - an ancient treasure at the heart of the village.
