A CONTROVERSIAL West Hill planning application has been removed from the agenda of a district council meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

Blue Cedar Homes’ plan to build 50 new homes at land north of Eastfield had been recommended for refusal to East Devon District Council’s development management committee.

A notice placed in Eastfield at the weekend said the plan had been removed from the agenda “due to the need for further assessment”.

The outline proposal includes 20 age-restricted homes and a new school building, in conjunction with West Hill Primary School, along with a pedestrian link to the school. Refusal is recommended because it would have “an unacceptable impact” on the current sewerage system, and it doesn’t provide enough affordable housing.

Nearly 500 letters of objection have been sent to the council, claiming the plan breaches current permitted village development and the increase in traffic flow would add to existing hazards for road users.
